Iโ€™ve had some clients feeling upset because they arenโ€™t making as quick of Fat Loss progress as they had hoped because of a vacation/summer events or extra work or even injury, but Iโ€™m always quick to tell these ladies to โ€œGive themselves Graceโ€! Because LIFE HAPPENS & there are some weeks where we can push it & be consistent for progress, & other weeks where maintaining & integrating fit habits the best we can IS progress in itself!

I think as women, we can feel the need to be at this super high standard of needing to be perfect in everything we do & that just trying our best isnโ€™t enough, BUT IT TOTALLY IS!!

I will often ask clients before a trip if they want to continue tracking their macros & keep up w/ their training plan OR if they want to just focus on mindful eating & have a step goal. I honestly donโ€™t have a preference for what they choose because this is THEIR JOURNEY & if they feel they can enjoy the trip while sticking w/ the program then we do it, & if theyโ€™re realistic that they want to take a break to focus on maintaining for a week on their trip then we do that! Iโ€™d rather set up an alternative to help them not feel stressed/restricted which can easily lead to saying โ€œscrew itโ€ & then way over indulging.

And taking a break to enjoy a vacation/event IS NOT backtracking or giving up! Itโ€™s about realizing whatโ€™s MORE IMPORTANT during that time & sometimes itโ€™s WAY more important for our overall health to focus on the company, travel, & enjoying more fun foods because those memories make us happy :)

Iโ€™m happy when clients realize that they deserve to have a break & give themselves the grace to simply enjoy summer events w/o always needing to be stressed about Fat Loss. Choice of exercises in the domain of strength training is goal specific. The strength that we build on the gym floor must get translated to outside life.
Strength equips every individual to become functional and being functional is relative. An individual may be satisfied being functional just for his daily activities, whereas someone may have a bigger picture in mind to compete in powerlifting, weightlifting or strongman events.
Conventional deadlift is most essential for a weightlifter who wants to become efficient at clean & jerk (C&J). Conventional deadlift is the start position of C&J. It wouldn't be prudent to practice sumo version and expect to master C&J. It's like studying Neurology to become a master of heart health; the choice wasn't wrong but irrelevant.
Sumo deadlift is an alternative to those who aren't efficient at conventional deadlift. Inefficiency can be due to asymmetrical anthropometry (disproportionate limb length), relatively less mobile posterior chain of muscles that inhibit graceful exhibition. Disproportionate limb length can't be rectified which becomes a disadvantage to lift maximal possible weight. Stiffness in the posterior chain must not be an excuse to switch to sumo version. It can be used as an alternative till the mobility is fully regained by emphasizing a strict stretching regime.
The common goal of both the versions is to claim maximum weight with grace while minimizing the element of risk. Choose the one that suits your goal and keep practicing it till you can never go wrong.

After doing arms on their own day for the first time back in the day I was hooked and never looked back. I have shaped my own opinion in that biceps grow under heavy, or light loads and biceps snap under heavy loads. I find that lighter loads give plenty of warning if there's anything wrong in the connective tissue. I've seen some of the biggest arms in the world curling 25lb dumbells. โ€ข

The hardest thing I have found about being a mom is trying to find balance. For the first 9 years I stayed at home with my kids but now that I'm working full-time and opening a business I'm finding it so hard to have enough time for everything. The one thing that has helped is trying to focus on quality over quantity. I try to be the best mom that I can be when I'm with my kids and equally try to do my best when I'm in other roles. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €

One thing I'm working towards: I'm working towards opening my own boutique fitness facility called Central Fitness. Central will focus on building an environment that will encourage people to be as healthy as possible. We want to educate our clients so they can become confident in their training and overall well-being. We will offer a top of the line training facility, personal training, fitness classes, yoga, health seminars and healthy food options. Central will be open in the spring or summer of 2019.โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €

TODAYโ€™S and the last two days drills!! Drill โ˜๐Ÿผ is not your ordinary crunches, keep the arms down and extended behind you as you ONLY use your core to curl your knees in. Using little to no momentum. 20-25 of these, 3 reps! DRILL โœŒ๐Ÿฝ youโ€™ll come into a childโ€™s pose place the block between the calf and thigh, extend the opposite leg and try to keep it as straight as possible as you lift it 8-10 times rest and repeat that 2 more times! Maybe try without the block (so hard) and donโ€™t forget to mirror match your sides!! Drill โ˜๐ŸผโœŒ๐Ÿพ: table top position lifting the knee hip high. Using the wall helps keep the shoulder over the wrist as well as the hip over the knee. You can keep the lifting leg bent or straighten it out for a harder variation! 8-10 times switch legs! 3 reps!
