One year ago today I was 20 lbs lighter and 3 shades darker about to stand on stage .. time freaking flies ! 😳 I’ve been enjoying this part of bodybuilding so much, lifting heavy makes me feel unstoppable 🙌🏼 and not to mention I am eating A LOT 😅. -

Snatch grip deadlift PR today, 475 lbs! I beat my previous PR on snatch grip deadlift of 455 lbs by 20 lbs. This is a very very difficult lift, very very different than a conventional deadlift. Snatch grip, your grip is extremely far out on the bar, which then in turn makes you start with your hips much much lower, thus incorporating your glutes and quads much much more to get the weight even moving in the first place; once you get it moving my upper back takes over and secures the weight so my lower back can hinge up properly. It is a very controlled dance of muscular cues, but it happens within me without even thinking, I just go by feeling and know when ti fire what muscles. I had been deadlifting for about an hour already before hitting this, so not only strength was involved, but endurance to just keep going heavy. Went up to a comfortable RPE 7-8 today on squats at 485 then 545 on bands. If this hammy allows it I might push into that 545 range again without bands we will see 🙏 Deadlifts from floor to 485 then 642lbs 4' Wagon wheels.

These 3 compound movements are a decent test of overall strength but not the end all be all of “how strong you are”. Many different things can measure strength be we just decided to take the powerlifting path to see where we were at. Me and my friend randomly decided to test our 1 rep max on the 3 “main lifts” literally the same day I started recorded this. Dieting down food:
A lot of people of have this mis-perception that training is easy and the diet is hard... if you change the perspective and do a little research (granted, they will be trial and error), the diet doesn’t have to be boring. Once you got grip of your diet, you will also be able to put of all focus into training and recovery; because training on low carbs really hurts. You will find it’s difficult to get pumps on low carbs, and therefore, the muscle fibres hurt when you contract and relax them during exercises... people who go through the “carb depleting phase” will also know it is hard to walk, as the fat pads on your feet also deplete; which makes it hard for the individual to stand up without being in pain... therefore, people who do cardio in depleted states (fasted or none-fasted) that’s some Rocky Balboa stuff!
Last meal of the day: 2egg whites + 1 whole egg, 2 slices of turkey meat (95% lean turkey 5% milk whey), 200g of cottage cheese, Pak Choi and reduced low salt soya sauce (low levels of soy won’t promote oestrogen levels)
Total calories 38g of protein (152cals) 6.5g of healthy fats (58.5cals), 5g of carbs (20cals) and 5g of fibre... Deadlifts! Very happy!! Had a silly iliolumbar strain rear its head yesterday just laying in bed. So lucky @docnickdc squeezed me in(10000x ty) Worried training would suffer, esp with my favorite conventional 🙄 no work last night so sumos were speedy af 😄😄 2' block pulls 2 singles at 335(90%) felt like could have done sets of 8! A single from the floor at 315(85%) also a dream, 2 doubles at 295(80%) moved better than last week's 'speed' pulls 😂 then conventional..made sure I focused and stayed tf out of my head. Originally prescribed 260(70%)...but to be safe did 66% which is 245x3x4. I could feel that was even borderline...but they got done! Accessories leg press 5 platesx4x8. Really focusing on getting full ROM on everything, so the weight dropped but those were tough!! Hip thrusts 265x4x10, and the rest of dat shit. Sorry for a novel, but I just fucking love deadlifts and NOT BEING IN PAIN. okay I'll shut up now the end bye 🤣🤣BW 122

I’ve been using bands the last couple weeks to train the upper range of my squats and high box squats to work my sticking points but I am starting to lower the band tension and increase the bar weight as we get closer. Buffalo bar squats with 505 on the bar plus 240 band tension for a top single (video 1) followed by 505+120 for a 3x3 (video 2). Followed that with belt squats for 5x3, competition bench 3x3 at 405 to a 2 board (video 3), and close grip speed bench with double green bands for 10x3 with 20-30s rest between sets (video 4 for last 2 sets). SBD tomorrow then max effort Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The best part of today though? College football is finally back. Kickoff in just about an hour. GO GATORS 🐊 •

Stiff leg dead’s off 2” blocks use a texas power bar. The focus on this day is to build my back and hamstrings with some recovery squats thrown in. Today looked like stiff bar dead’s, 2” block stiff legs, ssb squats w/ a squat wedge, BB rows, lay pulldowns, and some weighted abs. Before I get into the meet recap, huge shoutout and appreciation post to @_markieee @tp_strong for coming out to support me and handle me, and to a couple people who talked to me during the meet, talked me through some crap happening before the meet, and keeping my mind right and focused. No matter how this meet turned out, good friends mean the world.

Diet on a cut.
This is what my diet looks like on a day to day basis when I’m trying to cut down on some body fat. My total calories is 3,026 with 191g of protein, 410g of carb, and 75g of fat. When trying to lean up, it’s super important to make sure protein intake is high (I shoot for .9-1.1% of bodyweight in grams of protein). Once I make sure that I am going to hit my protein target, I fill up the rest of my meals with carbs or fats until I hit my goal of around 3000 calories. I prefer carbs to fats because they are less calorie dense which means I can eat more of them, plus they are great for fueling my high intensity workouts! I supplement both prime mass by bodytech and gold standard whey by ON to help me hit my calorie goal when I am pressed for time or need some additional protein throughout the day. While cutting, I try to keep my workouts as consistent as possible to maintain strength and muscle mass. Often, I like to use my cut as a period to focus even harder on strength and often end up hitting some of my best lifts during this time. Sorry for rambling, but the point of this post is that tracking what you are putting into your body plays a vital role in ensuring maximum gains both in and outside the gym. 💪🏻😎

So this is my back workout if you couldn’t tell already and if you couldn’t then well, this is my back workout 🤷🏽‍♂️ Anyhow, deadlifts suck. I’ve always said it and I’ll say it till the day I die. Unless I die because of them or chocolate, whichever one comes first 😂 Anyway, I started off with deadlifts. Worked up to 185 for 5 sets of 5 and as knackering as it was, it felt good after. Followed by Lat pull downs and I ended my workout with barbell Rows with bands. Full workout down below ⬇️ Remember, take your time. Strength will come with time and effort. You just gotta be smart with your training, listen to your body. Stay Grateful 👊🏾
